The late Congressman John Lewis said “When you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, you have to speak up. You have to say something; you have to do something.” We know that being a Unitarian Universalist (UU) isn’t just about believing in justice, equity and compassion, but it’s what we do to make those values come alive. This means we work collectively to get in the way of injustice and get into Good Trouble to build a truly multiracial democracy.
Universalist Unitarian Church of Farmington was recognized in 2022 as a Good Trouble Congregation for its efforts with UU the Vote by protecting and promoting voters’ rights in Michigan through letter writing, door knocking, and registering new voters. We are one of only 24 congregations in the country to receive this designation for our achievements!
UUCF commits each year to lean in deeper in our values and continue to work to uphold our 5th principle: the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large.
